Closets To Go was founded by Jeff Turner and Bob Anderson in 1985 in Tigard, Oregon. In 1989, Jeff and Bob helped Everett and Cheri Angle open a Closets To Go location in Thousand Oaks, California. Everett and Cheri have two daughters and a son that help out in the business during the summers and school vacations.
Closets To Go originally offered custom closet organizers in a white or almond melamine finish. Driven by customer demand, the product line has been expanded to include garage cabinets, home offices and wall beds. Closet organizer systems are now available in a multitude of melamine materials including a rainbow of solid colors, designer patterns and wood looks. Hardware has evolved into satin and bright chrome, brass, and nickel anodized finishes. Over the last 20 years the custom closet industry has matured from a finished carpenter’s sideline into a market segment of wood working with its own trade magazine. Closets To Go has been instrumental in pioneering many of the tools, technology and products in use today. Closets To Go developed one of the first data-base oriented computer aided design programs. This program allows the client to see exactly what their closet will look like and how it will fit their needs. The program knows all the components that are in the closet system, so it can also price the project exactly. There are no arbitrary formulas to compute to or guess work to come up with a price. The client only pays for what they receive. Closets To Go is still an independent family owned and operated business. We have grown over the years but are still lean and responsive to our customers in a way that only a small local business is able to do. “Most of our business is repeat and referrals,” says Everett. “I meet with several clients each year, that we did projects for 10 to 15 years ago and they need and want our services again. They are buying a new house or the kids are gone now, and they want to make some changes. It is always fun to help people out with their storage needs over and over again. It is a very gratifying day after day when you get to make people happy with what you do and how you do it.” If you have any suggestions or comments for Everett, let him know by emailing him at socal@closetstogo.com. |
